Matrix Vegetal combines experimental ethnobotany, South American quantum thinking, dream fiction and organic connection technologies to broaden perception and better understand the workings of the plant and spiritual universe. From botanical science fiction, the video installation proposes a restoration of communication between the human and the more-than-human, representing visions, teachings and routes delivered by the plant universe and offering a poetic perspective of contemporary existence, intricately intertwined with the earth.

The video installation emerges as an artistic interpretation of the experience of Patricia Domínguez, who was apprenticed to Amador Aniceto, a healer living in Madre de Dios, Peru. Amador has been condecorated by the plants as “General Physician of the Flora and Fauna of the Universe” for his sacred, multiple and mystical vision of the plant universe.
Under his guidance, the artist activated an intimate process of connection with living knowledge. To do so, she set out to achieve a temporary detachment from the digital matrix, activating instead an alliance with the vegetal matrix. In this way, she established a link with the language that goes beyond the human, connecting with the planetary memory.
Patricia Domínguez Claro (b. 1984, Lives and works in Puchuncaví, Chile). She sees her work as a stomach that digests reality and recodes it into a planetary prayer. Her inquiries focus on tracing digital and spiritual relationships between living species in an increasingly corporate cosmos, combining experimental research on ethnobotany, extractivism and healing practices through the artistic language of spiritual fiction or spi-fi. Domínguez is also the founder of Studio Vegetalista, an experimental platform for ethnobotanical connections.
Her work has been exhibited at New Museum, Hammer Museum, Modern Monday MoMA, Gasworks London, Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), Wellcome Collection, Munch Triennial, Gwangju Biennale, Gropius Bau, Museo Thyssen Bornemisza, Transmediale Berlin, Pinacoteca Sao Paulo, and FLORA ars+natura, among others. Her work was recently included at “Vitamin V, Video and the Moving Image in Contemporary Art”, Phaidon Press (2025) and was awarded the María José Jové Award in 2025 and the Simetría Residency Award by CERN and Fundación Botín in 2022.
